I saw Splice

So I just got back from seeing Splice. <-- Click me for the trailer if you haven't seen it already.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

It was pretty terrible. I didn't like it very much. I went into it not expecting much and thats what I got.

As you may or may not know, I love watching movies and reading books which offend people and are generally disgusting or disturbing. So I really respect them for pushing the envelope a little bit. They went further than a lot of hollywood movies go, especially since this is just a summer movie. They weren't afraid to get a little weird.

However, the weird rape scene was not well executed in my opinion. It was not particularly disturbing to me, even though it was technically bestiality. It was just uncomfortable, I did not care. This goes for the other weird sex scene. It was just awkward for everyone. Nobody was particularly disgusted/turned on. It won't make the most disturbing films list(s) (yes, there are many. Yes, I strive to watch them all).

I think this movie would have been better if they went a little deeper into the ethics. They made the Dren character quite unlikeable so the whole human side to her kind of got thrown in the trash. Even though she appeared to be more intelligent than most humans they kind of made her a 100% instinct monster at the end. At least they made the girl smarter than the boy version... cause I'm about to have a feminist rant in the next paragraph.

They used the old : "Don't listen to the bitch". What I mean is that basically whatever the female lead character did was the opposite thing that most normal people would do. Like keep the f***ing mutant animal-human child. I guess screenwriters think all women have some sort of overwhelming maternal instinct that would convince us to do stupid shit especially for anything carrying our genes. Hell Nawww. Should have listened to Adrian Brody when he wanted to stab the thing. Then at the end... oh gawd why.

So I guess they were going for a kind of Freudian feel with this one. With the whole daughter having sex with the father and then turning on the mother and then the opposite when she became a dude. But it really didn't work according to me.

So, thats my opinion on Splice. Don't watch unless you are really bored.

A serious issue

Some of you may not know this, but I am a radical bitchinist! Dogs everywhere are getting degraded by pornDOGaphy... Us bitches shouldn't take being oppressed by the humarchy anymore! Watch this video to understand:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpCWrIKWb84&playnext_from=TL&videos=jg7H75oQRI8

(I officially need to learn HTML again because these links don't even work for me. wtf blogger)

This is a joke don't worry! Its to make fun of these debates which have been raging on youtube these days. Basically theres the radical (aka scary) feminists on one side then the sex positive ones (an basically all males) on the other side. The radical feminists do make some pretty great points about potential abuse and trafficking but so do the sex positive people.

Excited to come home soon!

So I have been gone for about six weeks, and I really miss you guys! (All of you four people who read my blog... 3 of whom have not actually clicked follow yet...)

Anyways in two weeks I come home! YAY! I miss being home and stuff cause my room here is nowhere near as cool as my real room. Except I have a lot of books here. Thats about it. But more importantly, I miss hanging out with you! I haven't seen Han in six months!

When I get back to Ottawa I plan on trying to get a job. I'm thinking restaurant or maybe a store close to my haus. This is mainly to fund my next year at school and also to possibly put away some money to start a more creative business. For example: I think it would be cool to make Star Trek uniforms since no one really does that around here.

Also, I have two announcements. First of all I want to start taking my health a little more seriously, so you guys can help me on that one. But I first need to go see the doctor because I have an issue or two to sort out (I won't bore you with my hypochondriac thoughts) and the second is that I want to try to make some Youtube vids so making you can give me some feedback on that.

:D

Star Trek

So, some of you may be thinking: wow, I haven't heard Amanda go on and on about Star Trek in a while...

Well today is your lucky day! Somebody has been in the shower for a long time and I want to go in there. But I can't so I figured I would write a blog.

I really want to dress up in a Starfleet uniform (aka Star Trek costume) for Halloween this year. But I am having difficulties choosing which one because the one they use for my favorite series (TNG) is extremely ugly. Well its actually cool to me, but its not very flattering and it looks like the 80's farted on it. Then theres the original ST dress which is actually really cute and very recognizable. Then theres the voyager/all the other ones its in uniform which is the coolest in the nerd sense. But again, its not really "cute" in to the average person.

So that is my pickle.

Shrek!

So I saw Shrek today and I actually enjoyed it a lot :) It had a lot of good jokes. One or two bad ones but whatever, everybody else seemed to think it was funny. But they probably like family guy....

I love cheez

Seriously, I'm talking about fake cheese on cheetos and in those slices. I don't know why I like it since it is very unappealing to me until its actually in my mouth. Not cheez whiz though. That stuff is not my fave.

So I set off the fire alarm in my room last night. It was totally stupid! I was very cold so I turned on the heat setting on my fan and it started to smell weird but I didn't think that anything was wrong but I guess my fire alarm did... so I had to wave a pillow over my head to make it stop so that it wouldn't keep going and then force the whole building to evacuate... thankfully that didn't happen. BUT i was so afraid I was going to get in trouble and I did technically wake up my whole floor (oops). LFMF

I have been watching this guy on Youtube recently. His channel name is Nykytyne2. I am kind of in admiration/love with him. He has beautiful long hair, is actually pretty funny, loves the same composers as me and has extremely valid opinions. I really recommend his videos if you want to see someone who is more intelligent than a donkey. (hard to find on youtube) hes older --> @ Han

You should take a moment today to think about nihilist existentialism today.

My dancing skill

So those of you who have been dancing with me when I am particularly inebriated (This is mainly Ashley) will know that my moves leave something to be desired. Not from a lack of variety or enthusiasm but more an air of sophistication or class. So I was recommended this following video by Youtube. Even Youtube knows I'm a bad dancer! I don't think it helped. I got some outfit ideas though.

Bitches using my dishes

So I walked into the kitchen at dinner time to make an egg salad sandwich and some dude was blatantly using my pot and plate! WTF I should never leave my stuff in that kitchen..

Anyways... I'm really excited about a couple of movies coming up soon:) First of all theres SPLICE, which comes out June 4th. Although I kind of hate the trailer but I love the concept. I think they should have done a more mysterious trailer like they did for DISTRICT 9, because I feel like I know everything that is going to happen in it. I don't think it will be particularly good but nevertheless I will still be going to see it!

The next one is actually not coming out in theaters because its an oldie. Its CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, which I am going to rent and watch with Cam. I am slightly disappointed because Eli Roth half ruined it for me! BIOTCH! (I was watching a video of his top five movies that mainstream audiences haven't seen) I did not decide to watch this movie because of this video but I figured that he would NOT mention Cannibal Holocaust in his list cause its pretty well known and its his favorite movie and he never shuts up about it. On second thought, I should have expected it from him.

Lastly :TRON LEGACY. Omg omg omg! Its produced by Disney. EWWW! But still, the plot looks kind of meh but the production design and visuals for this movie look absolutely stunning in the trailer! Jizz in my pants. So even if its kind of boring I will be too fascinated by the set to actually notice.

Face Palming up a storm

Did you know that the top of mini-fridges are quite hot? I do now. After I left my bag of spinach which didn't fit into the fridge on top of it. It basically cooked the spinach but not in a yummy way. Also! Don't leave frozen chicken pot pies in a lunch bag thing on the floor. The smell that they created was similar to a wine that has gone bad. LEARN FROM MY FAIL(S)

Last night I wen't to see the movie Robin Hood. It was pretty decent. It had a good battle scene and also the king of England character was pretty funny but in a douchebaggy way. (The way I like it - yeah)

I was volunteering for this used book sale that Linda always helps out at every year all weekend. Its actually going to happen this weekend so we were setting up all the books and sorting them. Which means I got some awesome FREE stuff:) I got some cool philosophy books by Aristotle and Hobbes, some fiction ones and also three books with great pictures which now decorate my walls. Bitchin'

Thats all for now!

This weekend

Well, I didn't really do too much this weekend. I did watch some good movies! :D

I saw Ringu which is the japanese movie that inspired "the Ring". Well it wasn't really inspired since it copied most of it except for the slightly weird parts and then it just made everybody super white and added this weird barn thing. (I haven't seen the ring in a couple of years so I don't really know what I am talking about)

I liked it but I expected it to be more hardcore since my experience with Japanese horror has been only with Takashi Miike's Audition. Which was awesome, weird and pretty brutal in some parts (really only one).

WHERE THE FUCK ARE MY FORKS

Some mother fucker stole my forks!

I don't know who it is, but i left some things in the rez kitchen aka some cutlery and a plate (they were both in a cupboard) and when I went to eat my tacos the next day I only had one fork. WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH MY FORKS???

They must have mutated into spoons cause now I have too many spoons...

Anyways, I saw some random forks in the sink. They are now mine. They were probably mine to begin with.

I'm keeping all of my stuff in my room from now on.

A letter to my bed in Ottawa

Dear bed,

I love you and I miss you so much! My new bed here in Fredericton is so shitty :( He is barely big enough to lay upon and that is not considering comfort. Your Queen sized mattress puts me to sleep so easily and I long for your warm embrace. Gone are the days where I can turn over without nearly falling off the cliff that is the side of the bed. I count the days till our reunion.

Love, Amanda

If only I could fall asleep in this terrible bed, for I would certainly dream of you.

First Week in Fredericton

Hello!

First of all, if you are still confused about what on earth I am doing in Fredericton(New Brunswick) I am going to explain that!

Basically, I have been getting into sewing lately (like making clothes), and since I didn't get a good job this summer I needed something to do. So I decided to come to New Brunswick and work for my moms best friend Linda who is a seamstress and learn from her. She started to teach me how to sew before I moved to Ottawa but then I left. Technically I am not making any money from her so can you still call it working? I DO!

So far, it has been going very well! I don't really know how to do very much because I'm still a beginner but it is still fun :)

This weekend I went to Minto (its a small town) to visit my Grandmother and my aunt for mothers day. It was pretty fun. At least I got to sleep on a huge bed again:):):) We didn't really do too much other than go to a baby shower and go for pizza on moms day.

I was encouraged to get MOTHER FUCKING PREGNANT by my Nana more than once this weekend. I still love her but there is no way there will be evil Amanda spawn crawling around pretty much ever.

TTYL friends:)
